In a banner headline story across page B1 of the Edmonton Journal for
today 21 July 2006, Statistics Canada reports that Edmonton Canada is
now the crime capital of Canada!

The Edmonton region homicide/murder rate is documented at 4.3 per
100,000 people, compared to only 2.0 for crime-ridden Toronto!!

And, the Edmonton stats do not include bodies found outside the area,
from the notorious Edmonton serial killer of female prostitiutes!

And the city wonders why it is getting such bad international
publicity, mainly caused by the crooked cops, who apparently can not
even catch a cold, let alone the serial murderer, who is suspected by
many, to be either a cop, judge or criminologist.

Murder rate shoots up to decade-high
Thu Jul 20, 3:38 PM
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's murder rate shot up last year to its
highest in nearly a decade, putting the country's peace-loving
reputation on the line.
Statistics Canada said 658 people were murdered last year, meaning the
homicide rate was up 4 percent from 2004. It gave no reason for the
increase, which followed a dramatic 13 percent jump in 2004.
The national homicide rate was 2 per 100,000 population, Statscan said.
That is relatively low by international standard and less than half
that of the U.S. rate, which was 5.5 per 100,000 in 2004, according to
the FBI.
Canadians were shocked last year by a spate of shooting deaths in
Toronto, where the homicide rate jumped 9 percent. However, Edmonton,
the capital of the western province of Alberta, was the most
murder-ridden place to be last year, with 4.3 homicides per 100,000
people.
Another high-profile case involved four Royal Canadian Mounted Police
officers being shot dead in March last year as they investigated a
farmhouse in Alberta. The gunman killed himself.
The growing number of shooting deaths has put pressure on the
government to clamp down on handguns.
Other serious violent crimes such as attempted murder and assaults with
a weapon also rose last year but the overall crime rate fell 5 percent
because fewer non-violent crimes were reported.
The national crime rate has been relatively stable since 1999.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So much for the frequently touted lie that the murder rate in this
country is falling. Bring back capital punishment for murder when there
is no doubt.

And, in 2004, El Paso Texas ranked as the lowest of the top 45 US cities
over 1/2 a million people and had a homicide rate of 1.9 / 100,000 with a
population of 530,000. Toronto, a city of 2.5 million was still at 1.8 /
100,000 back then.

The news media makes money selling the idea of a massive homicide problem
in Toronto, when police statistics prove otherwise. The spike of 19 extra
homicides in 2005 made it 2.0.

Sensationalism by the news media tells the tale!

Crime rate down in all provinces, territories and most cities
Crime rates fell in all provinces and territories last year, with the
largest provincial declines in Manitoba and New Brunswick, each down
8%.

Violent crime rates declined in the Atlantic provinces, but they were
relatively stable in Central and Western Canada.

The highest provincial crime rates continued to be seen in the West.
Saskatchewan recorded the highest overall rate, followed by British
Columbia and Manitoba. Rates were lowest in Ontario and Quebec.

(and some other unlucky newsgroups), who is constantly harping about how
wretched Toronto is. There are several people who more than willing to
point out to Terry (aka Teewee or Timbit) when Edmonton is worse.

Edmonton has the highest murder rate for any city in Canada ... more than

You're the first person in years, that finally posted a crecible link.
Thank you. This other Idiot has been posting non-stop for years now

Saskatchewan recorded the highest overall rate, followed by British

now the crime capital of Canada!
The Edmonton region homicide/murder rate is documented at 4.3 per

And, the Edmonton stats do not include bodies found outside the area,
from the notorious Edmonton serial killer of female prostitiutes!
And the city wonders why it is getting such bad international

even catch a cold, let alone the serial murderer, who is suspected by
many, to be either a cop, judge or criminologist.

So much for the frequently touted lie that the murder rate in this
country is falling. Bring back capital punishment for murder when there
is no doubt.
An executed criminal will never re-offend.
Plus, the state will then save the exorbitant costs of incarceration!
Which is why you can't fix an error in conviction with the death penalty.

This is oil country. This is where the American immigrants live. They
bring their culture with them.

key of course, is what crimes and how long people go to jail if
convicted of them.
I think your average murder spends 3 years in jail today whereas in the
1970s it was about
10 to 15 years. That is a huge savings to taxpayers when you think of
prison as costing
about 200 or more dollars to keep someone in it for a day.

Judges in Edmonton regulalrly release killers, without any jail time at all!!

Last week 3 punks involved in the murder of a teenager, got no jail time, just
probabtion!!

A former city engineer, stunting with his corvette who killed an innocent
pedestrian, also got no jail time because he was a supposedly good citizen.

Hell, a so-called judge, T.D.Clackson even ruled that a convicted murderer in
the Max Prison should be allowed to have a shiv, for his protection against
the guards!! {Kerr case]. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled basically that
Clackson was nuts, and overturned his ruling!!

In a banner headline story across page B1 of the Edmonton Journal for 21 July

of Canada!

The Edmonton region homicide/murder rate is documented at 4.3 per 100,000
people, compared to only 2.0 for crime-ridden Toronto!!

And, the Edmonton stats do not include bodies found outside the area, from the
notorious Edmonton serial killer of female prostitiutes!

And the city wonders why it is getting such bad international publicity,
mainly caused by the crooked cops, who apparently can not even catch a cold,
let alone the serial murderer, who is suspected by many, to be either a cop,
judge or criminologist.
